Go somewhere fun, simple, and cost effective. Or even better take a mini vacation over a weekend to somplace an hour or so away. Doesn't take much to feel refreshed.

I think doing something out of the ordinary is so important. You can get stuck in a rut with the same old dinner and a movie.

We use date night to help get caught up on our lives. We talk about different things going on at work and such. My husband loves that I listen to his work stories, etc.

I took the test (Low Risk). My best date night tip is really just to make it a priority! It's too easy to put off for all kinds of reasons, but a couple really needs a chance to reconnect as adults, not parents. We make time every month (or we try to do) to go to a movie together or a street fair or a museum, etc.

I got Low Risk. :) My tip would be to get ready for the date separately. Like, go over to your girlfriend's house and get dolled up, have him pick you up like when you were dating. We do this sometimes. It makes it exciting, I get butterflies in my stomach.

Maria K February 4, 2013 at 11:59 AM

I got Moderate Risk. The date night tip is to do something that doesn't involve kids in anyway.

Allison February 4, 2013 at 1:04 PM

My date night tip: Make an at home date more special by doing something you don't do every day. Make dessert or have a glass of wine.

Tamra February 4, 2013 at 1:35 PM

My date night tip is to switch it up! Do something you love one weekend, and something he loves the next weekend. Even if you have most of the same interests, there are probably a few things one of you likes more than the other!

tip: be yourself. It's so awkward when you can tell someone is putting on a show.

No phone, TV, or even movie! Just enjoy each other's company by going to a restaurant, cooking a special dessert together, etc.

My tip is just to make it a priority. With 6 kids it can be hard but even if we can only get away long enough to take a walk together, we do it.

Moderate Risk

If you can't get a babysitter and $$$ is low, splurge on a nice dessert at a bakery or frozen section, rent a dvd from your local library and have dessert and a movie after the kids are in bed. Best is sharing the dessert - 1 plate and 2 forks.

I think it's important to calm the nerves.. A lot of times being nervous just makes conversations awkward. (chris.baylorbear at gmail dot com)

Date night - have not had one since we had kids 3.5 years. No wonder I got moderate. We used to go to amusement parks - relatively cheap and lots of fun.

I always take the grandparents up on the offer to babysit. Date night is important for my husband and me!

Unknown February 9, 2013 at 8:16 PM

Risk is low. My tip is make sure to make time for each other after the kids are in bed if you can't find a sitter. Its all about making each other feel special. Also not let everything else get between you.
