I am no longer a fan of Plum District. They had a deal with referring friends to receive a pink berry gift card. I referred friends from the pinkberry deal site, but apparently it ended up being from the “wrong” referral link so Plum District would not honor the pink berry gift card and I did not receive the gift card, even though my friends signed-up. I went through multiple email exchanges with customer service, but nothing has changed. They don’t seem to care about quality customer service. If you do still decide to use their site (which I no longer will be doing), proceed with caution.
That site sucks. Groupon and living social have been much better in my experience. I tried a deal to get a gift card with a certain amount of referrals. I got more than enough but the deal that was supposed to run all day got "sold out" in like an hour so my referrals didn't "confirm" their email address which nothin told them they even had to do. Plum district gained the referrals and I was credited with nothing. They only care about themselves.
Just gone through a similar experience. Wish I had read these reviews first or I wouldn't have refereed them to my friends. Their customer service/help site person is completely contradicting their facebook page and blog about the offer. I just deleted my account. .
i think they are new and need some time to get grilling in business and to lure more n more customers they offer different sorts of gift cards which have a lot to qulaify .. i'm not a fan but i'll give them some time n see how they do ..
I just had a very unpleasant experience with Plum District and am writing to warn people about this site. They changed the fine print AFTER I purchased a voucher for a pair of eyeglasses, and they refused to refund the order or credit it to my account. I STRONGLY advise against this site. Poor customer service.
Amen to what Sophia said!
Plum district is a fraud. I purchased their voucher but it cannot be redeemed. When I write a complain email to their customer service, they removed my account!
I just tried to order their offer for today which is a $400 tablet for $72 tablet with coupon code. The browser is stuck processing my credit card. This is going on an hour. I tried a different browser - same result. I called them and cannot get a live person. I e-mailed their customer service but no real person has responded yet. I think this is typical growing pains for a new company that is growing faster than they can handle it but I am very disappointed in their professionalism and customer service. If they do not make major customer service overhaul changes especially in webservers and bandwidth they will be out of business in a few months because Groupon and other daily deal sites are 1000 times more professional and reliable. Hopefully they will do right and honor the price & sell me the tablet but if they don't it is their loss.
I am not happy with this company either. I would not recommend purchasing anything thru them as if you have any sort of problem, its impossible to have fixed. They dont have any real customer service, more like auto reply. I am trying to rectify a problem and found that they have deleted any and all complaints on their open forum. They also told me to rate my experience, when I try to it says my ticket is closed and I cannot comment now. Stay away!
Amen to that Sheri!
Unprofesional !
First they sent me wrong link, about Starbuck deal. instead of $ 28, I will get charge $ 23 instead.
However when I checked out, I got charge $ 28.00.
I emailed them , got response saying email offer is wrong.
Ok.
Then the starbuck fandango deal i purchased, can't be redeem ! Emailed three times, never receive response!
I am so exhausted.
I purchased along with my girlfriend for $25 you got a $50 gift card to resturaunts.com and a $25 target gift card. I have called them and left several messages emailed, filed complaints and not have reported them to the Better Business Bureau.
FYI their phone number is 415 777-3757.

They are horrible. They list great deals and then reneg. Bad practice and very embarrassing if you bought it as a gift. This last time (with the Target/Restaurant deal, they never even informed me. A friend did.
My first order with Plum District was cancelled because it couldn't be fulfilled (Target/Restaurant.com). I bought it on the first round, as they offered it again a week later. Took a long time for them to notify me or answer my emails. Hoping my CC gets credited, and in a more timely manner. I will not be purchasing anything from them in the future, and would not recommend them to anyone.
I paid $100 for design consulting back in the Spring of 2010 and have yet had any success in getting an appointment from their merchant even after numerous emails/phone call. I finally requested help from Plum District and they too have not responded to me. I am now out $100 and nothing to show for it. These people are ridiculous. Furthermore, they have a no refund policy.
I have had a great experience with Plum District by ordering their local deals - coffee, hair cuts, gymboree, dinner and a movie, pizza. I have found some really great vendors through them.
Thank you all for the great feedback! It helps others know what to expect when making a purchase through them! I know I will be thinking twice, not because of any of the technical problems.... I really feel that is expected for good deals and for new companies. However, customer service is a must for me - no matter how new you are, how great the deal is, or anything else! If you have no customer service you won't have me as a customer!
Thank you all for the comments! Keep them coming!

I agree - avoid Plum District. I bought a voucher for house cleaning and after repeated unsuccessful attempts to schedule the cleaning (company was totally unresponsive) I requested a refund of my $75. They will *only* offer "plum dollars" which are totally useless, as you can't use them on the vast majority of deals they offer. Big scam. Stay away from them.
